Benefits Specialist/Coordinator (DFM #102)

Well-known, respected, national law firm is seeking a Benefits Specialist/Coordinator for their Dallas office!  This position will report to the Director, Human Resources, and will be a key member of the Human Resources team responsible for managing a full suite of benefit programs and providing backup to the payroll functions in a multi-state, multi-site environment.

Benefits:

• Serve as the first point of contact for customers over the phone. This could include communicating benefit plan details, helping customers navigate our software, and helping to resolve any enrollment-related issues.
• Provide an accurate time frame for issue resolution if not able to resolve initially.
• Oversee and/or participate in plan audits.
• Perform monthly billing and reconciliation of insurance invoice payments.
• Hold Benefits carriers and 3rd party administrators accountable for high levels of performance and service delivery.
• Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company’s benefits offerings.
• Drive annual benefits open enrollment by working closely with insurance brokers, management team and employee population.
• Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Manage the service award program.
• Complete benefit surveys, analyzing and utilizing survey data results.

Payroll:

• Back up and assist payroll lead in payroll cycles, reporting and data gathering for compensation survey inputs.
• Post payroll journal entries and balances certain accounts, process payments and compile segments of monthly closings, periodic reports, etc.
• Prepare and process manual checks for terminations, bonuses, corrections or any other payments relating to payroll.
• Update cost centers/job codes in the Payroll system.
• Manage employee data related to status changes, organization changes, and compensation changes.
• Quickly and accurately resolve employee payroll questions while promoting employee education and awareness of all matters related to their pay.
• May be asked to process the following: new hires, terminations, status changes, tax changes, deductions, direct deposits, time sheet data, rate changes, retroactive adjustments and special pays; maintains vacation, sick leave and worker’s compensation records; compile reports on base and premium pay; post entries to journals and ledgers; prepare tax deposits and reports; generate and distribute checks; and research and produce special reports.

Experience/Skills:

• 3-5 years of Benefits and Payroll experience. Experience with Ultipro highly preferred.
• Knowledge of ACA, HIPAA, FLSA, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, COBRA regulations plus Federal and State Labor Laws.
• Must be a committed team player, detail oriented and highly organized.
• Ability to multi-task and adhere to tight deadlines.
• Self-motivated and self-disciplined. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Must be detail-oriented, focused on accuracy and timeliness.
• Credible and vocal in ensuring that standards for excellence are maintained.
• Highly ethical and must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Experienced working with outside vendors for benefits and payroll administration.

Note:  Firm is on a hybrid work schedule:  3 days-in office and 2 days-work from home.

Salary:  $68,000-$70,000
