Well-known Texas-based law firm is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to work under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer Business Operations and provide support to the attorneys and staff in the Firm.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a proactive, team player and able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and have good organizational and math skill-set, be a detail-oriented individual and possess excellent interpersonal skills.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  This position is in their Dallas, Texas location.

 

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Requirements:

-Ability to work under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer Business Operations and provide support to the attorneys and staff in the Firm.

-Oversees and directs all general accounting functions, including chart of accounts and general ledger, procedural aspects of the billing process, cash receipts and accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, petty cash, bank reconciliation and client trust funds.

-Manages the accounting staff and prepares performance evaluations.

-Establishes and maintains appropriate internal controls of safeguard assets, to ensure proper accounting of transactions and to promote operational efficiency within the Accounting Department and throughout the law office.

-Responsible for monitoring cash flow and performing cash management, including borrowing against lines of credit.

-Responsible for operation and maintenance of computerized accounting system.

-Assists in the preparation of annual budget, distributes monthly financial statements; maintains financial results on an on-going basis and prepares financial projections.

-Supervises payroll and payroll withholding function and coordinates employee payroll matters with the HR Department.

-Assists in monitoring the inventory of unbilled time and disbursements and AR; meets with timekeepers as necessary to resolve problem cases.

-Coordinates annual audit of law Firm’s 401K Plan.

-Responsible for the preparation and issuance the Firm’s tax return.

-Ability to effectively communicate with clients.

-Consistent follow-through and ability and flexibility to multi-task and effectively balance priorities and meet tight deadlines.

-Communicates well, shows teamwork effort, and collaborates well with everyone you come in contact with.

-Exceptional customer service and people skills.

-Superior problem solving ability and ability to work with minimal supervision while exercising sound and independent judgment.

-Special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

-Minimum Four (4) year undergraduate with accounting major or master in accounting.

-Minimum Five (5) year’s experience as a Chief Financial Officer and exposure to accounting procedures.

-Experience working with various timekeeping and billing systems (Elite preferred).

-Must be proficient with attention to detail, organized and an effective time manager to meet project deadlines.

-Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

-Must be willing to work additional hours and weekends as required for the position.

Law Firm experience is a plus!
