Texas-based law firm in downtown Dallas is seeking a SEASONED COMMERCIAL LITIGATION LEGAL to support Shareholder and two Associates in a very busy section.  Partner handles high-stakes business disputes, employment, commercial litigation, etc.  Two Associates handle disputes, non-competes, disputes, securities fraud, etc.



The legal secretary will principally work under the supervision of the supervising attorney(s) and provide support to the litigation group attorneys in the Firm. This position enhances attorney effectiveness by providing information and  support; representing the attorney(s) to clients and others. The assigned work is in the commercial litigation and construction and other litigation matters.  The legal secretary will coordinate schedules, draft legal documents, take messages and answer telephone calls,  file and coordinate case filing projects with the assigned file clerks if applicable.  The candidate must possess a team oriented work ethic and attitude and logical mind and be able to follow instructions and resolve conflicts and relating well with various types of persons.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a proactive, organized professional who is able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Ability to work under the supervision of the assigned attorney(s) and provide support to the litigation group.
  • Produces information by transcribing, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, copying, and transmitting text, data, and graphics.
  • Conserves attorneys time by reading, researching, reviewing, verifying, and routing correspondence, reports and legal documents; drafting letters and documents; collecting and analyzing information; initiating telecommunications; organizing client conferences, and attorney meetings; scheduling couriers, court reporters, expert witnesses, and other special functions; coordinating preparation of charts, graphs, and expense reports.
  • Recording and monitoring court appearance dates, pleadings, and filing requirements; dockets court imposed deadlines.
  • Represents attorney by communicating and obtaining information; following-up on delegated assignments; knowing when to act and when to refer matters to attorney.
  • Assists in submission of billable time and reimbursable expenses; preparing invoices and communicating with clients concerning invoices.
  • Disseminate monthly cost and fee statements to associates for review; make grammatical revisions and forward to accounting department for finalization; submit final cost and fee statements to clients in compliance with internal Firm billing deadlines.
  • Maintains client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential.
  • Utilizes electronic filing and retrieval systems and supervises file clerks.
  • Working knowledge and experience of the law firm industry including office and department procedures, work flows and organization.
  • Knowledge and experience with e-filing procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, court personnel, counsel, third parties, private investigators, medical providers, experts, etc., and maintains regular contact with all parties.
  • Consistent follow-through and ability and flexibility to multi-task and effectively balance priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional customer service and people skills and work with in a team concept.



  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience and exposure working as a legal secretary in a law firm in the litigation group required.
  • Must type at least 65 WPM and have exceptional computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Software.
  • Experience working with various practice and case management databases (iManage), and timekeeping and billing systems.
  • Must possess excellent English communication skills with the ability to speak and write clearly and informatively and able to read and interpret information.
  • Must be willing to work additional hours and weekends as required for the role.
  • Must be dependable and adhere to firm policies and procedures.

Salary:  $65,000-70,000 DOE
