Growing, well-established, full-service defense litigation near 635/Coit Road, is seeking a skilled, self-directed experienced Insurance Defense Paralegal to support various attorneys and join their trial team.  The firm’s practice encompasses construction litigation as well as general personal injury cases.  This position will be responsible for the coordination of all the details before, during and after trial!

The successful candidate must have high-level experience with a range of litigation support applications. Additional qualifications include excellent analytical and organizational abilities, solid communication and management skills, creativity, initiative and ability to work in a team environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and notices and file them with the court
  • Knowledge of statutory deadlines (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics, etc.)
  • Obtaining, analyzing and organizing third party records such as medical records, billing records, and construction files
  • Scheduling depositions and hearings
  • Corresponding and working with experts
  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices
  • Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests
  • Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
  • Liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties
  • Help with voir dire, jury selection and witness preparation
  • Maintains chain of custody
  • Manages logistics of production of documents – hard copy, images, native
  • Checks legal cites for proper format, content and standing (Westlaw, Lexis)

 

Skills:

  • Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices etc.
  • Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail
  • Extensive computer and database expertise

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a litigation paralegal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Proficient in Adobe
  • E-filing tools

Salary:  $70,000-75,000
