Legal Conflicts Analyst (DFM #612)

High-profile, international law firm in Uptown is seeking a Legal Conflicts Analyst.  This position reports directly to the Conflicts Manager.  This exempt position will be responsible for analyzing and resolving conflicts of interest issues and conducting new client background research.


Essential Duties:

-Analyze conflicts of interest issues relating to new firm business, lateral attorneys, new staff and potential merger candidates.

-Draft conflict waivers and ethical walls as needed to resolve potential conflicts of interest.

-Advise attorneys regarding ethical obligations relating to conflicts of interest and other issues covered by the Rules of Professional Conduct.

-Conduct background research on new clients.

-Perform legal research and prepare memoranda relating to professional responsibility and risk management.

-Perform related duties as assigned.


Education Required:

-Bachelor’s degree required.

-J.D. from accredited law school required.

-License to practice law in U.S. jurisdiction is preferred.



-Knowledge Experience:  This position requires a working understanding of large law firm processes and procedures as well as general familiarity with the various practice areas handled by the Firm.

– A working understanding of the Rules of Professional Conduct and ethics law and opinions relating to conflicts of interest is essential.

-Experience with legal research and writing.


Skills:  Attention to detail and ability to work independently while making sound judgments.

-Effective time management and the ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously.

-Excellent computer proficiency is also required.
