Litigation Attorney (Houston) (DFM #595)

Texas-based law firm is seeking a Litigation Attorney (Insurance Defense) to join their busy firm in Houston.  Will provide much needed support to the Insurance Defense litigation group.


Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Requirements:

-Excellent drafting skills with regard to notices, discovery, affidavits, subpoenas, preparing trial exhibits, correspondence and more for review and approval.

-Preparation of deposition summaries for use in mediation and trial.

-Knowledge of e-filing procedures.

-Ability to effectively communicate with clients, court personnel, counsel, 3rd parties, private investigators, medical providers, experts, etc., and maintain regular contact with all parties.

-Performs factual investigations and anlaysis of file data.

-Ability to review and organize case records per firm procedures.

-Must be highly organized and maintain electronic and hard copy case files per firm procedures.

-Consistent follow-through and flexibility to multi-task and effectively balance priorities and meet tight deadlines.

-Log and submit case time and expense billing for case files.

-Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of attorneys, clients, customers, employees, vendors, etc.

-Provides monthly cse updates to the supervising attorneys.

-Superior problem solving ability and ability to work with minimal supervision while exercising sound and independent judgment.

-Maintain competency through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest developments and CLE requirements.

-Must be willing to travel for trials, etc. up to 25-30% as assigned.


-J.D. from an accredited law school with GPA in upper 25%.

-Must be licensed to practice in Texas and in good standing with the Texas State Bar Association.

-Minimum of 5-8 years of litigation experience.

-Must know all aspects of litigation discovery.

-Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

-Experience working with various practice and case management databases (iManage) and timekeeping and billing systems.

-Excellent English communication skills.

-Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

-Must be willing to work additional hours and weekends as required for the role.
