AV-rated municipal law firm is seeking an entry-level attorney with 1-2 years of municipal law/local government experience.  The firm’s areas of practice are:  Public Information Act, Open Meetings Act, Public Safety, Public Works, Ethics/Conflicts, Code Compliance, Zoning, etc.  Must be hard-working, team-oriented, and a self-starter with the ability to work on issues with little guidance.



-Prepare court papers, contracts, ordinances, resolutions, deeds, leases and other legal documents.

-Render oral and written legal opinions as requested.

-Research, interpret, and apply laws, court decisions, and other legal authority in the preparation of opinions and briefs.

-Analyze legislation, including proposed state and federal legislation affecting the client.

-Answer legislation, including proposed state and federal legislation affecting the client.



-Ability and willingness to work as part of a team, to demonstrate team skills and to perform a fair share of team responsibilities.

-Ability to assess his/her work performance.

-Plan and organize work, time and resources.

-Contribute to the development of others within the organization.

-Produce desired work outcomes, including quality, quantity and timeliness.

-Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, subordinates and people to whom service is provided.

-Consistently report to work and have work assignments prepared and on schedule.

-Consistently display a positive behavior with regard to work, willingly accept constructive criticism, and be respectful of others.



Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Skill in planning, developing, implementing and administering a legal services program dealing with various governmental functions.

-Skill in oral and written communication sufficient to develop defenses of, and justification for, decisions reached.

-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.

-Ability to exercise independent judgment.

-Ability to maintain complete and accurate records.

-Ability to attend meetings and perform work assignments at times other than normal business hours.



-Must be licensed by the State Bar of Texas

-Must be in good standing with the Texas State Bar


The firm provides an excellent benefit package along with bonus plan, etc.


Salary:  $80,000-100,000
