Seasoned Litigation Legal Secretary (DFM #596)

Texas-based law firm in Uptown is seeking a seasoned Litigation Legal Secretary to support Two Partners and One Associate!

One of the Partners concentrates her practice on civil, commercial and labor and employment litigation.  She handles commercial trials, arbitrations and appeals in representing corporate entities, individuals  and governmental entities in cases involving various industries and businesses, telecommunications, manufacturing, insurance, health care, food products, oil and gas, etc.

 

The other Partner handles civil disputes in state and federal courts.  He has represented companies in many industries, such as banking and financial services, construction, energy and natural resources, manufacturing, real estate, retail and services and telecommunications.

 

The Associate represents businesses of all sizes in all areas of labor and employment and complex commercial litigation.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

-Drafting documents such as motions, pleadings, discovery, briefs, etc.

-E-filing with state and federal courts.

-Litigation knowledge within a law firm preferred.

-Excellent computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe, etc.

-Other legal software (iManage, Chrome River, DocsOpen, etc.).

-Maintain calendars for assigned attorneys.

-Schedules hearings, depositions, mediations, meetings.

-Excellent proofreading skills, checking for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammatical errors, as well as ensuring that all attachments, exhibits and enclosures are intact.

-Reviews attorney bills/enters time.

-Interacts with clients as required.

-Performs routine filing, closing files and retrieves closed files when requested.

-Opens and screens incoming mail.

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

-Knowledge of office practices, procedures, office machines and equipment.

-Possess correct spelling, grammar, vocabulary, communication skills, punctuation and legal terminology.

-Knowledge of content and format of legal documents.

-Ability to ready, analyze and understand legal documents.

-Ability to work under pressure.

-Must have typing skills of 65 wpm w/few errors.

-Ability to multi-task.

Salary:  $65,000-69,000 DOE
