Job Description:

Boutique North Dallas law firm is seeking an experienced and dedicated Litigation Paralegal with 8-10+ years of experience.  This key position will support the litigation team (8 attorneys in the trial team) in performance of active Federal and State litigation.  You will leverage your expertise and strong, detail-oriented work style to ensure quality legal services for clients.  This in-office position will report to a Principal/Attorney.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare initial substantive drafts of pleadings and discovery documents for attorney review.
  • Prepare documents for filing with proper citations, TOC, TOA, certifications, and declarations.
  • Maintain the firm’s docket of filings, discovery, and notices from the court and other counsel, including scheduling mediations, depositions, and hearings while monitoring deadlines per local, Texas, and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Prepare detailed deposition, mediation, and trial exhibits and accompanying notebooks.
  • Routinely review attorney(s) email accounts for electronic correspondence, notifications, pleadings, client documents, etc.
  • Prepare discovery documents, including electronic Bates Labeling, case indexing, and managing electronically-stored information.
  • Accurate and timely entry of billable time into time management software.

Competencies for Success:

  • Working knowledge of Federal and Texas Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Proficient in Federal and State electronic filing, trial preparation and support.
  • Extensive civil business litigation law firm experience.
  • Proficient with file management on complex cases, organizing large volumes of discovery and e-discovery.
  • Experience preparing drafts of pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Possess strong management sills, including ability to handle multiple priorities for several attorneys, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Expert and organized legal calendaring skills, including deadline calculation and entering relevant dates into firm calendar.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and third parties, through clear verbal and written correspondence.
  • Exhibit attention to detail and the ability to follow-up on outstanding items.
  • Produce high quality work product in a deadline-sensitive environment.
  • Proficient with various research programs (Westlaw).

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years + of experience in commercial litigation.  Ability to identify the appropriate deadlines in litigation documents filed with the court, as well as through the application of applicable rules of procedure, local rules and standing orders.
  • Familiarity with commercial/business litigation, including pre-trial, trial and post-trial.
  • Ability to e-file and serve documents, both in state and federal courts.
  • Meticulous litigation document management and naming.
  • Experience with Texas and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams).
  • Proficient skill in Adobe Pro.
  • Provide accurate and timely entry of billable time into time management software.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred; experience in lieu of degree considered.
