Job Description:

Due to the continued growth, a Dallas-based boutique law firm has an immediate need for a dedicated Litigation Senior Associate for their busy North Dallas office.  As a member of the Litigation Department, you will handle complex commercial litigation matters, including insured-side first-and third-party insurance claims, breach of contract, business tort, corporate fiduciary, and other complex commercial litigation-related issues.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Draft motions, pleadings, memoranda and briefs, discovery demands, and responses.
  • Independently manage a caseload and work cases from beginning to end.
  • Review new file assignments, approve initial pleadings, and propound discovery.
  • Regularly handle court appearances and depositions, and provide guidance to junior attorneys.
  • Produce high-quality, error-free work product in a deadline-sensitive environment.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and be in good standing with the Texas Bar.
  • 8-10+ years and 15,000 hours of experience in drafting motions, pleadings, briefs, discovery requests and responses in commercial litigation matters.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, including common coverage issues arising from the acceptance and/or denial of first-and third-party insurance claims.
  • Experience preparing witnesses and clients for depositions, arbitrations, mediations and trials including expert witnesses; conducting settlement and dispositive proceedings; trying and/or arbitrating cases; preparing motions, pretrial motions and summary judgment documents; drafting post-trial motions; preparing for and participating in appeals.
  • Strong command with financial/accounting issues related to corporate and entity structuring, as well as common issues in equity/business owner disputes.
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships by building trust and demonstrating credibility through client contact.
  • Proficiency with Westlaw and Microsoft Office and willingness to be an ambassador embracing the Firm’s leading-edge legal AI tools.
  • Experience with arguing and presenting at hearings and trial.
  • Must be highly organized, managing data with strong attention to detail, keeping accurate records, etc.
