Job Description:

Boutique North Dallas law firm is seeking a skilled and motivated professional to serve as an Estate Planning and Corporate Paralegal.  This vital role will support multiple attorneys with the opportunity to assist the Business Tax and Estate Planning team with estate planning and corporate work, as well as the related document preparation and client file management.  You will leverage your experience and strong detail-oriented work style to ensure accuracy and quality of work for the team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Business Tax and Corporate Support

  • Assist attorneys with entity formation, including corporations, partnerships, and LLCs.
  • Prepare and file business tax-related documents, including EIN applications, corporate minutes, and state tax filings.
  • Conduct research on tax implications for business transactions, mergers, and acquisitions.
  • Draft agreements, contracts, and tax-related corporate documents.

 

Trust Administration

  • Initial draft of estate and gift tax returns (Forms 706, 709) and coordinate with accountants and financial advisors.
  • Draft complex trust documents, private family trust company agreements, related documents, and, to a lesser extent wills, powers of attorney, and advance directives.
  • Facilitate the funding of trusts by coordinating asset transfers.
  • Administration of corporate trustee documents for a private family trust company, including documentation of trust committees, distributions, investments, and related administration.

 

General Paralegal Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize client files, trust ledgers, and tax records.
  • Communicate with clients, financial institutions, and government agencies regarding tax and estate matters.
  • Assist in annual meetings and trust distribution documentation.
  • Track deadlines for tax filings, corporate compliance, and trust administration.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Experience in legal drafting, creating structure charts, and tax planning transactions.
  • Extensive prior closing work experience with complex estate and trust planning and business tax planning transactions.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The firm provides a competitive benefit package to include medical/dental, benefits, 401(k), paid parking, fitness center, bonus, etc.
  • Office Hours are 8:30-5:30 Monday-Friday.
  • Billable Hours are 1550/year.

 

Compensation:  $105,000-$115,000 DOE.
